What Is The New Facebook Ad Library?
Facebook has released a new ‘Facebook Ad Libary’, which is as it sounds… a compilation of all live Facebook Ads, giving you the ability to search Pages (and keywords) and seeing all of the Ads those businesses are currently running.
More so, on political Pages you’re able to see precisely how much they have spend on Facebook Ads.
How Can You Find The Facebook Ad Library And What Does This Mean?
Most of this data was already accessible with a little bit of effort scanning through individual pages.
i.e. In the Facebook Ad Library you can see when a page was created, any name changes that page has gone through, the primary location of people who manage that page, etc.
All of the before mentioned features were already public – the power of the Facebook Ad Library is the nature of how simple and public this information is now.
Even though this information was already “public”, it’s not much, much easier for the average person to find this information and view it.
For example, if a page is running a Dynamic Creative Ad, you can see the break down and all of the individual variations of text, creative, headlines, etc.
What you weren’t able to see before, that you are now – includes how much the Page spent on those ads and how many people saw it, i.e. the Impressions for that ad
Word is this change happened because of the upcoming European Elections and Facebooks desire to increase transparency as a brand and platform.
How Often Will It Be Updated
According to Facebook, the Ads in the Library will be dynamically pulled and updated automatically.
However, more definitive data regarding politics will be updated on a weekly and monthly basis until May of this year (2019), from there it will be updated daily.
What Does The Facebook Ad Library Mean For Advertisers
Obviously, this is stirring up the advertising space quite a bit… but what exactly does it mean?
From a pessimistic standpoint, you can state that your ads will be easily “copied” by your competitors.
From a more optimistic standpoint, one that we always choose at Planet Convert – you can state that while this is true and your ads will likely be copied or closely mimiced more than they were before… this only strengthens the power of regularly updating your creative, having a high-converting landing page that’s hyper-relative to your ad, etc.
In short – we’re operating on a platform we don’t own or control. All we can do is work with what we’re given.
If you’re a quality advertiser, this will help you in the long run.
